Job description
Commercial Director
Vilgain makes high-quality food — clean, functional ingredients, no shortcuts, no filler additives.
We're 700+ people across Prague, Brno and London, already selling in 12+ markets across Europe, the UK, the US and beyond.
We're on a mission to change how people think about food, and we're growing fast to do it — expanding internationally and building a company where people have a real say in what we make and how we make it, not just a seat at the table.
About the team
You'll join our Commercial team, responsible for driving profitable growth across DTC, marketplaces and B2B.
You'll report directly to the CEO/Managing Director CEE and lead commercial performance across the Czech and Slovak markets, working closely with Finance, Marketing, Retail and Operations.
Your mission 🎯
Own profitable commercial growth across CZ/SK, with DTC and e-commerce at the core of our commercial strategy, while driving performance across marketplaces and B2B.
You'll combine deep online business expertise with strong commercial judgement to make the right decisions on pricing, product mix, promotions and channel profitability. Your goal is to grow revenue without compromising margins or long-term business value.
What will you do?
Own commercial performance across DTC, marketplaces and B2B, driving revenue growth while protecting margins and profitability.
Drive DTC and e-commerce growth, understanding the key drivers of online performance, from conversion and customer retention to product assortment, pricing and profitability.
Lead and develop the commercial team across DTC & Marketplace, B2B and Revenue & Planning, setting clear priorities and performance expectations.
Own pricing and product profitability, building a consistent pricing strategy across markets, channels and pack sizes while protecting agreed margin targets.
Drive promotional strategy, approving key campaigns and evaluating their impact on incremental revenue and margin.
Own sales forecasting and commercial planning, bringing together all sales channels into one monthly forecast and working closely with the COO on business priorities.
Turn commercial data into decisions, identifying what drives changes in revenue, margins, product mix and channel performance — and what actions to take next.
Make key commercial decisions when channels or territories conflict on pricing, promotions or commercial terms.
Identify new growth opportunities, optimizing product assortment, channel mix and commercial performance with a focus on long-term profitability.
Work closely with Finance, Marketing, Retail and Operations to turn commercial priorities into measurable business results.
Build scalable commercial processes and decision-making frameworks that support growth across channels and markets.
What do we expect from you?
Proven commercial ownership — you've been directly responsible for revenue, margins and commercial performance, ideally with full P&L accountability.
Deep DTC and e-commerce expertise — you have a strong understanding of how online businesses operate, from customer acquisition, conversion and retention to pricing, merchandising and profitability. You know what drives online revenue and have hands-on experience turning these insights into commercial results.
Strong pricing and profitability expertise — you've made decisions on pricing, promotions, product mix and margins, and can demonstrate their financial impact.
Multi-channel commercial experience — you understand how DTC/e-commerce, marketplaces and B2B/retail work together and how to balance growth across them.
Forecasting and commercial planning skills — you've built sales forecasts, managed commercial targets and translated numbers into actionable plans.
Strong analytical and commercial judgement — you understand unit economics, can identify what drives business performance and know when an opportunity doesn't make financial sense.
Proven leadership experience — you've built, led or developed commercial teams and know how to create accountability and drive results.
Strong stakeholder management — you're comfortable challenging assumptions, aligning teams and making difficult commercial decisions.
Fluent Czech and English, with the ability to communicate confidently across local and international teams.
Experience in e-commerce, FMCG, consumer brands or fast-growing international businesses is a strong advantage.
Your first 3 months
By the end of your first three months, we expect you to have taken ownership of CZ/SK commercial performance, built a clear understanding of revenue, margins and profitability across DTC, marketplaces and B2B, and identified the biggest opportunities for improvement.
You'll have developed a deep understanding of our DTC performance and online growth opportunities, established a reliable commercial forecasting and planning process, and aligned priorities with the COO and commercial team.
You'll also have presented a clear, data-driven action plan to drive profitable growth, improve pricing and promotional effectiveness, and strengthen performance across channels.
What we offer
You'll get real ownership from day one, not just a seat at the table. We're a fast-growing, international company where good work gets seen and good decisions carry weight. We're building something that matters, and you'll feel that from your first week.
Sound like you? We'd love to hear from you.
